TrueVision® 3D Surgical, the world leader in 3D visualization and guidance for neuro and ophthalmic microsurgery, announced today its guidance and visualization systems are being used in six of the top eight U.S. hospitals, as reported by U.S. News and World Report in its “2014 Best Hospitals” honor roll.

The “Best Hospitals” report was compiled by evaluating nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals. Those with the highest score in 16 specialty categories, including ophthalmology, neurosurgery, cancer and orthopedics were selected to complete and make up the 18 honor roll top hospitals.

“We’re proud of the role our products play in these prestigious and nationally-recognized hospitals,” said Forrest Fleming, CEO of TrueVision. “From the operating room to the class room and conference center, our systems make a positive impact on the microsurgery landscape for surgeons, medical staff, students and patients.”

TrueVision 3D Surgical’s visualization system captures, displays in real-time, calibrates and records into an editable format appropriate for creating clear, life-like video used to communicate with all the OR, pre-doctoral education, post-doctoral CME and other playback needs.

“The time in the operating room with residents is limited and TrueVision’s 3D visualization system helps us make the most of that time,” said H. Hunt Batjer, MD, FACS, former Chairman of Neurological Surgery, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.

“The high def 3D camera and flat screen display allow our OR staff to be truly intimate with the procedure in real-time, providing them a fuller perspective of vascular and oncologic anatomy in deep, confining exposures,” Batjer commented. “The footage can be easily edited and used almost immediately after the procedure. Our library of on-demand surgical videos is growing nicely because of the TrueVision system.”

U.S. News and World Report conducts research on top performing hospitals annually. This year’s two most significant movers in rank include Northwestern Memorial Hospital and UCSF Medical Center, both of which moved up six positions into the top eight.
