North Carolina Control Tower Coated with TEXCOTE®

The nation’s second-tallest control tower is under construction at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Scheduled to open in 2020, the soaring state-of-the-art FAA tower is erected and is now being protected for the ages, with the standard-setting architectural coatings of Textured Coatings of America, Inc.

More than 700 gallons of TEX•COTE® products will cover the 370-foot-high structure. This includes water-based primer, TEX•COTE® 600 Smooth Coating, COOLWALL® Classic Smooth Primer and COOLWALL®SUPER-COTE™ Satin Finish ─ all going into covering the facility’s 69,000 square feet of exterior wall space.

“It’s an extraordinary structure and a huge project ─ which is pretty much what we do,” TEX•COTE® Spokesman Dick Barnes said. “It’s looking great. Everything is being done right, as we’d expect and as we guarantee, to keep the tower and the administration building well-protected for decades.”

Founded 57 years ago, the Panama City, Fla.-based company has protected the iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, to giant bridges, college campus buildings, major retail centers and homes from coast to coast. It’s also previously covered control towers at international airports including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Orlando, Palm Beach and Memphis. Its next control tower project is scheduled in Tennessee.
